The below are brief descriptions of the most popular tours and sight-seeing destinations in Warsaw.
Please contact me and I will assist in planning your itinerary. Depending on your choice we can explore Warsaw on foot, by my car or by public transport.
Warsaw Walking Tour
Duration 3 - 4 hours
On this tour we shall stroll around the charming cobbled streets of the Old Town of Warsaw which is included on the UNESCO list of cultural treasures of the world's heritage. We shall find the house in which Maria Sklodowska-Curie was born, see the City Walls, the Royal Castle and the Old Town Market Square with its traditional Polish restaurants, cafes and shops.
While in the Old Town I would recommend visiting beautiful interiors of some of the churches.
The Historical Museum offers a very impressive documentary film in English (20 min) presenting the town before WW II, then its destruction during the War and finally the recovery of life in Warsaw in 1945. (the movie available Tuesday to Sunday)
Our route would also take us along a very elegant street "Krakowskie Przedmiescie" where some aristocratic residences, famous statues and historic churches are located. We shall walk by the Palace of the President of Poland, the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, Warsaw University, see the interior of the church where Frederick Chopin's heart has been buried.
The above tour might be extended by visiting the interiors of the Royal Castle.
Warsaw Highlights - Walking and Car Tour
Duration 4 - 6 hours
This tour will cover most of the programme described in the above "Warsaw Walking Tour" (although some walking will be replaced by driving) and additionally it will take us to the Lazienki Palace and Park complex - the summer residence of the last King of Poland (18th century) and a great tourist attraction in Warsaw. We shall drive through the modern section of the city, the former Jewish ghetto area (where the new Museum of the History of Polish Jews was opened in Oct. 2014), and along the Vistula River bank to see the nice panorama of the Old Town. We may also visit the roof gardens laid out on the top of the University Library building.
This tour may be extended (additional time required) by visiting the Baroque Wilanow Palace lavishly furnished with valuable furniture and outstanding works of art which were collected by the successive owners for over 300 years.
Each of the above tours may be extended according to your special interests or I may prepare a special theme-tour for you like: Chopin in Warsaw, Maria Sklodowska-Curie, Jewish Heritage, Polin-Museum of the History of Polish Jews, Warsaw Uprising, churches, tracing your ancestry, shopping.
